I attended the alumni dinner tonight with all of my group
members. This is my first time to realize that how all the Spartans in the
worldwide are connected with each other. Dr. Singer told us the Japanese Alumni
Club offered around one thousand five hundred scholarships for each of us. It
is a huge deduction of our program fee, which offers opportunities for more MSU
students to afford this program and enjoy the time here to get knowledge about Japanese
culture and business. One of the alumni speakers told us there are 500,000 MSU
alumni members in the world. It is MSU bond us together. Then we can get chance
to talk and communicated with people from worldwide. I feel honored as well as
proud to be a Spartan!
Another funny thing happened in the alumni dinner is once
Higuchi-san asked what I did today. I told him I went to Akihabara with Penny,
Zhenfei, Nathan and Andrea. The first sentence he said is “did you guys go maid
café? ” For sure we went! Akihabara is an area that full of shopping malls that
usually sell animation products and electronic equipment. For people who love
Japanese animation culture they would be familiar with the maid café. Cute
girls warring maid clothes and serve well at the café. During the 40 minutes we
had stayed there we saw groups of Japanese men went in the café and talk with
maids in a very relax atmosphere. Nathan said he felt a little bit wired
because all the girls talk with baby voice, and all the men in the café look
very enjoyed the time with the maids. Higuchi-san laughed when I told him how
wired Nathan felt. And he told us his friends celebrated his birthday at a maid
café five years ago.
It is interested to learn that successful business man like
Niguchi-san would like to spent time in maid café—I thought only youth or
single men do this before. Actually, it is a really nice experience for me to
have a try of this in Tokyo.
We took this picture in maid cafe, everybody wearing bonny ears on head during the time we had spend there!
